Environmental Consumer needs your help! For more than three years now, we have survived on volunteer time, a barebones budget, and donated resources. Now, to succeed in our mission of helping consumers live environmentally-friendly lifestyles and driving a more sustainable economy, we need your help.

We're raising $5,000 to expand our staff's time on developing innovative databases, tools, resources, and information. This money supports work on programming, designing, and updating our systems. To meet our goal, we're asking for $20 from you to support our work. We keep our overhead low, so your donation will purely support time to conduct research, develop usable software and materials, and build the organization.

Note: Donations are made through the Sierra Nevada Alliance (see last paragraph for more information). Nearly your entire donation (93% minus credit card fees) goes to fund Environmental Consumer, with 7% covering the Sierra Nevada Alliance's overhead in managing our donation infrastructure. The Alliance is a great organization as well, and is only covering costs in this arrangement.

What your donation enables
Your donation will help fund our programs, resources and databases. We're currently in the process of expanding our offerings to widen their impact and, if we can raise enough money, get out into our community to do on-the-ground outreach.

Accomplishments
We've accomplished a lot with minimal and nofunding, and we can accomplish much more with your donation:

• Began our successful environmental helpdesk.
• Released a database of recycling information for cities nationwide.
• Developed and launched tool to help consumers quickly write and send letters to 38 major companies.
• Developed and published slideshows related to issues of consumer sustainability.
• Researched and developed database of recycling information in 46 U.S. cities - set to launch late 2010.
• Laid groundwork and infrastructure for future major projects and databases, including recruiting Board of Directors and obtaining fiscal sponsorshop through the Sierra Nevada Alliance.

We want to keep developing these materials and make them even higher quality, but we really do need your help.
